The Great returns for season 3 on May 12, and if you haven't watched, it actually is. Great, I mean.

Is Elle Fanning secretly the best Fanning? Elder sister Dakota may have come into her precocious fame a bit early, but over the past decade, little sister has proven herself to be far better at choosing projects that make great use of her talents—namely, fierce intelligence and biting comedic timing. Both serve her very well in Hulu’s sort-of true (but mostly not at all true) historical dramedy The Great, which purports to tell the story of the Catherine the Great’s reign over Russia, but doesn’t try very hard to stick to history.
Which is fine, because it’s extraordinarily entertaining following the soapy throne room intrigues of Catherine, the young immigrant queen, and her crew of usurpers as they overthrow (repeatedly) the rule of the oafish Peter the Great III (a perfectly dimwitted Nicolas Hoult). It’s one part political drama, one part black comedy, one part enemies-to-(sorta) lovers, and all parts really fucking great. I’ve been waiting forever for season three to drop, and it’s finally arriving on Hulu on May 12.
