Grocery Stores Outside of Yellowstone

Where to Get Groceries and Eat Picnics in and Around Yellowstone & Grand Teton (2)

No matter which Yellowstone entrance you are using, it’s easy enough to stock up on groceries for your day inside the park. Each town has at least one grocery store to shop at.

Gardiner, MT

Gardiner Market
Open 7 am-10 pm (closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day)
701 Scott St Hwy 89 S
Gardiner, MT 59030
406-848-7524

Gardiner Market, located near the North Entrance to Yellowstone, has all the departments that bigger grocery stores have; a bakery, a deli, fresh produce, as well as canned and frozen goods. There aren’t as many options to choose from (who needs 20 options for peanut butter anyway?), but they have sufficient for a trip inside Yellowstone.

Customer service is phenomenal; the staff is very friendly and helpful. Lots of people say that the bakery has delicious food and some customers even drive from other cities just to visit the Gardiner Market.

West Yellowstone, MT

  1. Market Place Supermarket
    Open 7:30 am-9 pm
    22 Madison Avenue
    West Yellowstone, MT 59758
    406-646-9600

For being a smaller grocery store, Market Place Supermarket has a good selection of groceries. It is conveniently located near the West Entrance to Yellowstone, however, you may notice the prices are a little more than a city grocer. That’s to be expected in a tourist town.

The deli goes beyond most grocery store deli’s, with steak and other delicious foods on the menu. The biggest complaint is the employees’ lack of customer service. That being said, Market Place Supermarket is known to be the better of the two grocery stores in West Yellowstone but see for yourself.

2. Food Roundup Supermarket
Open 8 am-9 pm
107 Dunraven Street
West Yellowstone, MT 59758
406-646-7501

If you are looking for something unique, you can find bison steaks at the Food Roundup Supermarket. Don’t worry if bison steaks aren’t your fancy, though, because this grocery store has lots of other options. The employees here are kind and friendly. You can find essentially everything you want to take into Yellowstone at the Food Roundup Supermarket.

Jackson Hole, WY

  1. Mangy Moose Cellars & Grocery
    Open 9 am-9 pm
    3295 Village Dr.
    Teton Village, WY 83025
    307-734-0070

Not only can you find a small grocery selection at the Mangy Moose Cellars & Grocery, but you can also find wine and dine here as well. Mangy Moose Cellars & Grocery has two restaurants and a saloon in this four-story grocery store.

This grocery store is high-ranked for convenience. It is located at the south end of Grand Teton and is the closest grocery store to the park, with other grocery stores being at least 20 minutes away. It has a great selection of meats, produce, gluten-free foods, and even dog food. However, the prices are a little higher than a city grocery store.

2. Bodega
Open 7:30 am-9 pm
3200 McCollister Dr.
Teton Village, WY 83025
307-200-4666

Bodega is more like a convenience store or quick stop market, but they still have a small selection of groceries and quick food. It’s a great place to get the little things you might need. This store is also conveniently located at the south entrance of Teton Village. You can expect higher prices, as always, but the staff is very friendly. The selection is great, given Bodega’s size.

3. Dornan’s Moose Trading Post
Open 9 am-5:30 pm
12170 Dornan’s Rd
Moose, WY 83012
307-733-2415

This is the place for gourmet groceries. Dornan’s Moose Trading Post has a variety of cheeses and baked goods. The sandwiches are all the rage and are claimed to be the best restaurant food in town.

This store also has a coffee bar available. Dornan’s Moose Trading Post is open year-round.

4. Jenny Lake Store
Teton Park Rd
Moose, WY 83012
307-543-2811

If you are looking for a store that isn’t crowded, Jenny Lake Store is the place to go. The smaller crowds do not reflect the quality and selection of groceries inside the store. This store has high ratings for affordable priced groceries and souvenirs as well. Jenny Lake Store has grab-n-go food options, including their must-have huckleberry slushie!

5. Signal Mountain Lodge General Store
Open 7 am-10 pm
Grand Teton National Park
1 Inner Park Rd
Moran, WY 83013
307-543-2831

Signal Mountain Lodge General Store has an organic and all-natural food grocery selection. They also offer free Wi-Fi, free air for tires, and showers. This store is a great place for essential items. Gas is the cheapest here, which is another perk to doing your shopping here. The yummy treats, such as the ice cream cookie sandwich, are locally made.

Cody, WY

  1. Walmart Supercenter
    Open 6 am-11 pm
    321 Yellowstone Avenue
    Cody, WY 82414
    307-527-4673

Since Cody, WY is about an hour away from the East Entrance of Yellowstone, this could be considered sort of a “last chance” for a stock-up before entering the park. However, don’t worry too much if you have forgotten something because there are stores (listed above) that you can stop at inside Yellowstone.

2. Albertsons
Open 6 am-10 pm
1825 17th Street
Cody, WY 82414
307-527-7007

Albertsons is another great store to find food options, with city-store prices. If you are not familiar with Albertson’s, it is a store similar to Kroger grocery stores. Once again, Albertsons in Cody might be the last place to stock up for a cheaper price before entering Yellowstone.

3. Down Home Discount Cody
9 am-6 pm (Closed Sunday)
2621 Big Horn Avenue
Cody, WY 82414
307-578-8114

Down Home Discount Cody is a grocery store unique to Wyoming. It is a family-owned business that has been influenced by Amish culture. Their mission is to offer quality products for an affordable price, to create a welcoming atmosphere, and to serve their neighbors with integrity and friendliness. Down Home Discount Cody has a great selection of grocery options: baking goods, canned goods, gluten-free options, cleaning supplies, pet supplies, and general merchandise.

Yellowstone National Park, MT 82190
406-838-2371

Silver Gate General Store has a variety of options for good food. It has great items for picnic lunches as well as items for dinner inside Yellowstone National Park. You can find maps, bear spray, and other supplies at this store, but something unique to Silver Gate General Store is the scope and binocular rental service.

Cooke City Store
8 am-7 pm
101 Main Street
Cooke City-Silver Gate, MT 59020
406-838-2234

You name it, this store’s got it. Cooke City Store is a one-stop shop for groceries, dry goods, sporting goods, sundries, medication, hardware, fishing licenses for Montana and Yellowstone, and even real estate. Located only 4 miles from the Northeast Yellowstone Entrance, the convenience factor is a winning attribute for the Cooke City Store.

Now that you know where to find the food you would like to eat, let’s talk about where you can go to eat it.
